Skill Details: 1. Pattern Understanding: Interpretation of jacket patterns, layout, and fabric selection. 2. Measuring & Alterations: Taking accurate measurements and making basic alterations for a better fit. 3. Seam Finishes: Exploring different seam finishes like serging, French seams, or bias binding for a professional look. 4. Pockets: Construction and attachment of various pocket styles, such as patch, welt, or inseam pockets. 4. Sleeve Insertion: Techniques for setting sleeves and ensuring a smooth insertion without puckering. 5. Collar and Lapel Construction: Creating and attaching collars and lapels, understanding interfacing for structure. 6. Finishing Touches: Hemming, closures (buttons, zippers, snaps), and topstitching for a clean final appearance.
Materials Included: Supplies list will be providied prior to class, fabric can be purchaced at The Cloth Castle with a 20% off discount on supplies.
Requirements: Before diving into more intricate sewing projects like making a jacket, it's crucial to have a strong foundation in general sewing techniques and machine operation. Here's an overview of the general knowledge required: 1. Threading and Operating the Sewing Machine: - Understanding the parts of the sewing machine and their functions. - Threading the machine correctly, including the needle, bobbin, and thread tension adjustments. - Practicing stitching techniques like straight stitch, zigzag, backstitching, and controlling speed and stitch length. Cancellation Policy for Students: - No cancellations permitted within seven days of the class. - No refunds after the seven-day mark; no exceptions. - Special events and special guest classes are non-refundable. Cancellation by The Cloth Castle: - If the minimum registration of 4 people is not met, The Cloth Castle reserves the right to cancel the class three days before the scheduled date, issuing a full refund. - If a class is canceled by the instructor or The Cloth Castle, a full refund will be issued.
